Assessment1 - The Bowl

Finished product

Process

Step1: Use laser cutting make the template of the bowl - a consist of a series of concentric rings and also a 'radius gauge'. Mark all the disk on a aluminium sheet.
Step2: Cut around for 230mm disk. I did this part in a big hurry. So that the edges are not very perfect, I found that the defects was more obvious as the aluminium stretching. Although it was a small failure, I accumulated experience from it.
Step3:  Hammer the sheet alone the disk marks on an plywood slab and sandbag, the material shrinking and stretching to make a bowl shape. The aluminum sheet is softer than I thought,  the process feels like making a sculpture. Strength is not only the key of shaping the bowl but also understanding of mechanics of a bend.
Step4: Use English Wheel with the radius 155 hammer and dolly to smooth the shape. This process can help to make the radius more accurate and even.
